The first batch of shrimp export ceremony in 2021 was organized in the morning of January 5 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the People's Committee of Hau Giang province and Minh Phu-Hau Giang Seafood Corporation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien requested that businesses should strengthen cooperation to expand shrimp export markets.
In the past year, constraints caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, severe drought and saline intrusion together with consecutive storms and floods caused many difficulties and damages to agricultural production.
Overcoming difficulties caused by natural disasters and pandemics, the growth rate of fisheries production value reached 3.05% compared to 2019, the total output reached 8.4 million tons, up 1.8%; only total farmed shrimp production reached 900,000 tons. Seafood export turnover reached 8.4 billion USD.
Minh Phu Seafood Corporation has also contributed many important achievements to the overall achievements of the industry with a total output of processed shrimp for export reaching 55,000 tons, export turnover reached 580 million USD with the main products are value added high quality frozen shrimp exported to demanding markets such as the US, Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada ...
Minh Phu - Hau Giang Fishery Joint Stock Company alone has an output of 22,400 tons of processed shrimp and an export turnover of 240 million USD.
Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien suggested that by 2021, agencies and units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, localities, the business community, shrimp farmers regularly assess market developments, propose solutions, enhance cooperation and solidarity among enterprises in accessing, and expanding and diversifying markets, in compliance with Vietnamese regulations and import markets.
