According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), citing statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam exported 224.95 thousand tons of rubber in October 2024, worth 429.01 million USD. This marked a 16% increase in volume and a 27.8% increase in value compared to September 2024. Compared to October 2023, this represented a 3% increase in volume and a 46% rise in value. Notably, this was the second consecutive month of growth in rubber exports compared to the same period in 2023.
Cumulatively, in the first ten months of 2024, rubber exports totaled 1.54 million tons, valued at over 2.52 billion USD, down 4.9% in volume but up 16.4% in value compared to the same period in 2023.
Statistics show that during this period, Vietnam exported 1.06 million tons of rubber to China, worth 1.7 billion USD, a 16.8% decrease in volume but a 1.5% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023.
Notably, there was a significant shift in export markets during the first ten months of 2024.
Rubber exports to Malaysia surged sharply, reaching 7.26 thousand tons in October, valued at 11.47 million USD, a 22.2% increase in volume and a 47.8% increase in value compared to September 2024. Compared to October 2023, the increase was an astounding 861.1% in volume and 1,240.2% in value.
For the entire ten months, Vietnam exported 24.8 thousand tons of rubber to Malaysia, worth 35.17 million USD, marking a 349.4% increase in volume and a 404.6% rise in value compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition, October 2024 saw strong growth in rubber exports to several markets compared to the same period in 2023, including India, Indonesia, Canada, Brazil, France, Bangladesh, and Peru. However, exports to some major markets continued to decline, such as South Korea, Turkey, the Netherlands, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
