Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien mentioned, in 2021, Vietnam's shrimp industry will continue to face many difficulties and challenges such as drought, saltwater intrusion; unusual weather and climate, potential risks, the risk of disease outbreaks; developments of the Covid-19 epidemic and unpredictable international trade competition. However, besides difficulties and challenges, our country's shrimp industry is having opportunities with a background of potential and natural advantages, with a team of businesses with more than 20 years of experience from production to processing and export. The determination to synchronize the entire political system from the Government, ministries, branches, local authorities to businesses and people will continue to create momentum for production development. In particular, the free trade agreements that Vietnam signed will expand market opportunities for products, especially shrimp and pangasius.

“I would like to take this opportunity for comrades to firmly grasp and closely follow the viewpoints, orientations and goals of the Vietnam Fisheries Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045 to direct and develop production local seafood in accordance with the orientation of the Government and the Prime Minister, " Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien emphasized.

To realize the "dual goals" of the seafood industry, including the shrimp industry, we need to make more efforts, more determination. Therefore, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that the first goal we need to try is to maintain good output and provide high quality raw materials for processing. This is an important factor because the fisheries sector is easily affected by the weather, especially in the current situation of drought, saltwater intrusion, climate change and fierce competition in import markets. The next goal is to deal with existing problems in the linkage chain such as production and processing organization, market maintenance and development strategy.

Finally, Mr Phung Duc Tien requested localities to well implement the plan for brackish water shrimp production in 2021; directing well the regulations on rearing conditions and registration of key farming subjects. At the same time, strengthen information, propaganda and transfer of science and technology to replicate the 2, 3 stage farming models, farming using probiotics, closed recirculation farming, and biosafety shrimp farming. , high-tech farming... and effective production linkage models to help farmers and businesses reduce damage and take initiative in production. Provinces and cities need to well perform environmental monitoring and warning to promptly warn farmers; guide measures to prevent diseases, implement well technical solutions to effectively raise shrimp, minimize damage to farmers./.
