In the opinion of Mr Nguyen Quoc Tri, the export value of wood and forest products in the first 10 months of 2019 reached more than 9 billion USD, up nearly 19% over the same period in 2018. Accumulated to the end of October 2019, the trade surplus of forest products reached approximately 7 billion USD.
Vietnam's forest products are currently exported to over 120 countries and territories, of which the US, Japan, China, EU and South Korea account for 86.6% of the total export value of forest products, at over 7.8 billion USD.
According to the Director of the General Office of Forestry, the last months of the year are always the time that export orders increase both in quantity and value. Especially, as forthe signed orders for the remaining two months of 2019, the forestry product export target in 2019 of the forestry sector is 11 billion USD, which is completely feasible .
On June 17, Vietnam was officially the 50th member of the PEFC Forest Certification Organization. The total forest area certified for sustainable forest management is over 249,000 ha in 22 provinces. In particular, in 2019 to date, nearly 23,000 ha area of forest have been granted the certification in 9 provinces: Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Hue, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh. Tuyen Quang is the province with the largest forest certification area of over 6,000 ha.
As of October 25, the whole country had paid over 2,400 billion VND for forest environmental services, reaching 76% of the plan in 2019. On October 25, MARD completed the submission. The Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved the implementation plan of VPA/FLEGT Agreement in the document No. 8035/TTr-BNN-TCLN.
Regarding forest development, as of October 22, the country has planted over 175,000 ha of forest , reaching approximately 83% of the annual plan and nearly 99% over the same period in 2018. As for planting forest , in the first 10 months of 2019, about 175,000 hectares have been exploited, reaching 85% of the 2019 plan, up nearly 7% over the same period.
