On October 10, in Hanoi, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan held talks with Mr. Antti Kurvinen - Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry to discuss issues of mutual concern including sustainable forest development. On this occasion, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and Finland.

Minister Le Minh Hoan thanked the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for supporting Vietnam in human resource training; implementation of projects related to national forest information data. Vietnam appreciates that this project in phases 1 and 2 has created a basis for the Vietnamese forestry sector to manage an effective forest information system.

According to the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides will continue the cooperation programs between the two countries and contribute to promoting trade cooperation in agriculture between Vietnam and Finland. Currently, the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has supported Vietnam in the field of human resource training; implementing projects related to national forest information data, creating a basis for the Vietnamese forestry sector to effectively manage forest information systems.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Finnish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry said that although Vietnam and Finland both have strengths in agriculture, forestry and fishery, the commercial scale in agriculture is still modest. Mr. Antti Kurvinen hoped that through the Memorandum of Understanding, the two sides would continue to promote trade in agriculture and strengthen cooperation in the forestry sector between the two countries. In particular, Finland will support Vietnam in implementing its commitments at COP 26 on combating climate change.
